Follow Reeva’s prompts. Use Next and Back for the explanations, then make the requested moves. At the end, try a game with visible hands or easy Duppies inside this reel.

Teams and seating Your partner sits across from you.

Partner is a four-player team game. You and your partner sit across from one another, and the other two players form the opposing team.

Winning the hand Either teammate can win for the team.

Empty a hand Your team wins if either teammate empties their hand first.

Blocked game If nobody can play, the team with the player holding the lowest pip count wins.

Pose and play Partner uses the Cutthroat opening and matching flow.

The pose rules are the same as Cutthroat, including double six as the initial pose. The lesson recommends reviewing Cutthroat if those rules are unfamiliar.

Play moves counter-clockwise. Each player must match a domino to an open end of the chain. If they cannot match either end, they pass.

Signal through play Your choices tell your partner about your hand.

Communicate through your play. Play strong suits early to signal them, and watch what your partner plays, avoids, or passes on.

If you hold many fives, attacking with fives can tell your partner that you are strong in that suit. Your partner can notice and support those fives.

Weak in threes If your partner passes on threes or avoids playing on them, they may be weak in threes. You may be able to help by removing open three ends.

Strong in blanks If your partner appears strong in blanks, they may have a low count. The lesson suggests that blocking could then be a good option.
